This course introduces the foundations and current practice of Artificial Intelligence, with an emphasis on understanding how AI methods solve problems, what makes them effective, and where their limitations lie. Topics range from classical search, optimization, constraint satisfaction, logic, and reasoning to modern AI systems. The course also includes discussion of contemporary AI, its capabilities and limitations, and the distinction between genuinely intelligent problem-solving methods and brute-force computation.
